Bookstore Day : My Love Affair with independent bookstores

Booknerds Newsletter by Rohan Raj

Well it is Bookstore Day (April 29) today and I would love to tell you about some bookstores which I have visited and loved over the past year

Shelfebook Bookstore, Dehradun

It is so refreshing to even look at the facade of this one, felt like I was walking somewhere in Europe.

They have a very contemporary approach to curating a bookstore concentrating more on what sells not boggling the reader with too many options.

They have an amazing Manga collection which the store manager tells me goes off the shelves within 2-3 days.

Of course the Heartstopper series, great non-fiction like Hyperfocus, Surendra Mohan Pathak

and much more

Kunzum GK Delhi

This one is so chilled out and is a haven for booknerds like me. On the first floor, they have an amazingly carefully curated collection with the right mix of all genres.

Honestly, the seating arrangement feels like one is at home:) which is just so refreshing.

I climbed up the stairs and there it was the Penguin Store where I found all books coming out of the publishing behemoth’s stable.

The highlight was of course the comic books and graphic novels.

 CMYK/Eureka Bookstore GK Delhi

Walked randomly into Eureka and CMYK Bookstore and what a delectable experience it was.

On one hand, there were the extremely finely crafted coffee table books by Roli, a veteran of making high-content coffee table books for over 40 years.

I moved deeper into the store to find the most well-crafted children's bookstore with the founder herself setting up bookshelves which is the mark of a great independent bookstore.

If you have children don’t miss visiting this one every month

 Book Quote from my Shelf

“When you start to think of time in more collective ways, trying to leave behind the individual time banks, it opens up the horizon of what’s possible in your and others’ time — together.”

 Audiobook Recommendation

Make Time : How to focus on what matters every day

Written and narrated by: Jake Knapp, John Zeratsky

A great book to concentrate on what is on priority during a day ,creating strategies to avoid distractions and be more productive.
